How to check the current software version:
In NAVIGATION mode, press MENU twice, until INFORMATION menu is shown, SCROLL UP to second page and select VERSION. If PROGRAM number is shown as 1.000 or 1.100 your unit would benefit from software update.
After update is completed unit will need to be calibrated again. Guidance settings (like VOICE or ZOOM options) will be reset but addresses stored in memory will be retained (PREVIOUS, HOME, FAVORITE for example, are not erased).

XA-HD500 Firmware Upgrade Version 1.00.1071:
This firmware version address the issue when a high speed USB 2.0 HUB is connected to your PC and a mixture of slower FULL or LOW SPEED USB devices are connected to the HUB, then the PC may not recognize XA-HD500 properly.
Please read the instructions, before attempting to upgrade the firmware.

After downloading self-executable file in your computer double click it. This will bring dialog box asking where to unzip all files, leave the default C:\JVC location as is and unzip all files (if you don't have the WINZIP program in your PC you can download the free evaluation version from WWW.WINZIP.COM). After unzip is complete close this window and locate MY COMPUTER in your PC open it , double clik on "C" drive then look for JVC folder there.
